Frequently Asked Questions

North Toronto Cat Rescue (NTCR) is a registered non-profit, no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and homeless cats across the Greater Toronto Area. Since 1988, we’ve provided thousands of cats with a safe haven, veterinary care, and the chance to find a loving forever home.

Our shelter is located north of Newmarket, Ontario. Visits are by appointment only to ensure a calm, safe, and stress-free environment for the cats in our care.

Our adoption process is designed to make sure each cat is placed in a safe and loving home. It begins with an online adoption application, followed by a conversation with one of our adoption coordinators. Approved applicants are then invited to meet the cats and find the right match. A home visit or reference check may also be part of the process before finalizing the adoption.
